Der Softwareriese Microsoft gibt seine Newsgroup MSN Groups auf und will die Gruppen künftig dem Social-Network Multiply überlassen. Der Service MSN Groups soll am 21. Februar 2009 komplett geschlossen werden. Microsoft selbst plant derweil mit Windows Live Groups einen neuen Service, der im November verfügbar sein soll.
Gruppen sollen dabei aber nicht zwischen dem alten und neuen Windows Live Groups Service übertragen werden können. Microsoft möchte aber eine Migration anbieten, so dass Nutzer entsprechende Gruppen zu Multiply übernehmen können.
Microsoft should have gotten rid of MSN Groups a long time ago. It really doesn’t compare to what Yahoo and Google provide (i.e., Yahoo and Google Groups). So, I would assume that the new Windows Live Groups will be very similar to those and will connect to other Windows Live properties.
