Marco has brought an interesting question on Twitter into play "What if would buy Microsoft RIM?".
I personally am of the opinion that the ipjone and the Android phones would be the winner. Microsoft would surely sooner or later, set the Domino and Groupwise support ... sooner rather than later. And in serious times: Because of the BlackBerry technology, everything is transported via the RIM Infrastruktir: Many would not want that everything would be transported via the Microsoft.
Whether the major mobile providers who keep pushing current BlackBerry also yes, then no matter how this technology, I also dare to doubt times. For, as most other Pushmail services still need to be more traffic, which from the perspective of the provider is not the worst of times, because more traffic, more money ;-)
Microsoft would of course play a real huge advantage: a competitor with much better technology, less on the market!
Wait and see where all goes!

Do you really think that the giant from Remond who really want to buy? I'm not even sure that can really be squeezed into the portfolio!
Personally, I do believe that all those people who only want to make nervous. Migrate, even if now some direction iPhone: What's the matter since the only truly enterprise server? Exchange! So that Microsoft has been sold yet again the winner of some of the Apple Devices: This is Microsoft is not so important! But if only real key customer migrated from Domino to Exchange ...
And Android is certainly not an issue in the business environment, because it only works really well with Google Apps! And I doubt that a large German bank will change (pun) on Google as a mail provider. No key customer in the automotive sector, or the pharmaceutical industry!
What remains? Exchange! And that is exactly what Microsoft is interested. You ought to know that! Who has started loyal IBM customers to migrate to Exchange? And above all: Who did that work with Microsoft ;-)
@ Jens Nilsson, so you're sure to be right 100%! If not even 110%!
It's always so insecure Microsoft, IBM customers until the they start to open the door.
I would not be surprised if Microsoft very publicly expressed their interest in, and then pulls back only to build up the pressure even further! I would make it so.
Especially since some of the really important Domino / Notes customers in Europe to start a mail migration to think about!
@ Joerg Hochwald, but since you have to run even on such a project, right? You did so great because Refferenzen ;-)
@ Ralf Berger, oh now it's all my fault? Certainly not ;-)
No, seriously: It is clear, my project is not a bad number, but more for me! Microsoft would be interested in these user numbers do not really!
@ Joerg Hochwald, shame! I was hoping that you have a bad least some! But you're consultant, do you know sowas ja nicht!
@ Jens Nilsson, I give you right: Google is safe because no real alternative in the enterprise segment!
But whether Microsoft, the success of Apple is so indifferent? Since I'm not sure! I believe in the Windows Mobile division is discord, the iPhone has been so successful. And everything which Google has only a little success, Microsoft certainly is anything but happy times!
